The first record we have is in 1891. Joe Brown Bought eight city lots (which includes the land where Hale county Abstract is still located) for $22.94.
It was then sold to W.B.Martine in 1906 and was incorporated at that time. It was then sold to Martine and Sanders a firm in 1908.
The Business and property remained in the Martine family for many years and was later purchased by Mrs. Tommie Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson then sold to American Land Title out of Amarillo in 1993. They remained the owners of Hale County Abstract until May of 2005.
The Business was then sold to First American Title Insurance Company and they were the Owners until 2008 when they Sold the business to Deliece Harrison who has been a employee of Hale County Abstract since 1988.
The Company has remained in the Same location since it was originated. The original building was expanded to cover double the office space in 1987.
In 1998 Hale County Abstract purchased Swisher County Abstract and in 2000 Cowsert Abstract in Dimmit was also purchased. We are licensed
to issue title insurance in Hale, Swisher and Castro Counties. Also closings may be ordered at any of our locations and then closed at anyone of our locations
as needed by the customer.
We also still produce abstracts and we offer escrow services as well as 1031 exchanges, new construction or REO properties on commercial land and residentual properties.
Hale County Abstract is Locally owned and operated. Our employees have years of experience and are active in the community.
The Company works with all local attorneys and has additional attorneys available on request.
